In the past few hours, Disney Plus has confirmed the release date on its Streaming platform of The Spirits of the Island, a film by Searchligt Pictures multi-nominated at the Oscars 2023
The already very rich catalog of Disney Plus films will expand further with the arrival of one of the films that has received the most nominations at this year’s Oscars 2023. We are talking about The Spirits of the Island, born from the direction of Martin McDonagh and which boasts, in the cast, names like that of Colin Farrell (nominated for Best Actor), Brendan Gleeson, Kerry Condon and many more. No less than nine Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, if we don’t also consider the ten BAFTA Award nominations with four consecutive wins. In short: a film to be seen, at all costs. Searchlight Pictures and writer-director Martin McDonagh bring to life an unusual film starring Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. Neighbors Pàdraic and Colm have been friends for a lifetime, but suddenly find themselves at an impasse with worrying consequences. Colm tells Padràic that he must never speak to him again, adding that he will cut his finger every time he tries to. Despite Colm’s outrageous announcement, Padràic will do anything to save their friendship. Set during the Irish Civil War of the 1920s, Spirit Isle features a talented cast, an original storyline and stunning cinematography.
