Twitter removed the blue check marks from users who don’t pay for the Twitter Blue premium service. Only those who pay $8 a month may have the verification badge. But there’s a surprise: some celebrities still have their own blue check, even if they pay nothing: this is because the CEO of Twitter, Elon Musk, pays for it.
Elon Musk pays the blue check on Twitter to some celebrities
Who pays for the blue checkmark if the user himself has no intention of paying for it? Elon Musk, the CEO and owner of Twitter. Or at least, he does it for someone. He admitted it himself in a tweet saying he is covering the cost of ticks di William Shatner, LeBron James e Stephen King. We checked and, indeed, their accounts still have the blue checkmark.
Musk didn’t say why he decided to pay for them, and we don’t know if he will for others. Maybe it’s just a joke from Musk, since all three they openly stated That they would never pay for check marks.
In a recent tweet, King he said he did not join Twitter Blue and did not give his phone number to Twitter. Earlier, he had said he would not pay for the tick as a matter of principle. Also LeBron Jamesone of the most followed sportsmen on social media, said he had no intention of “chasing a single dollar” for Twitter Blue.
Other celebrities have lost their privileged status on social media because they decided not to pay for the check. Among these are also the superstars Beyoncé and even the current one Pope Bergoglio.
