Twitter is working on a video app for smart TVs, its owner Elon Musk announced in a message on Saturday. The app is part of a strategy that fits into the company’s new goals to focus on the growth of video content on the platform. “Is coming”Musk wrote in response to a tweet asking for a Twitter video app.

A presentation slide showed that vertical videos made up more than 10% of time spent on Twitter. Therefore, investing in this media could have a positive impact on traffic and therefore on advertising.
Twitter is also aiming for social media shows. Or at least to that by former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlsowhich launched this month on the platform called “Tucker on Twitter”. Fired by Fox after the scandals that came out of the wiretapping on the Dominion case (including openly racist comments), Carlson now produces his own show on the social network.
Twitter hopes it can sell advertising and sponsorships along with videos from Carlson and other content producers, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters. And he wants to bring them to TV too, although Musk has not given any date for the launch of this new app.
