Riz Ahmed grapples with a dark and mysterious threat. The first trailer for Encounter – sci-fi film from December 10 on Prime Video – anticipates the dangers at the heart of the plot
Riz Ahmed is currently one of the most versatile and requested performers on the big and small screen. And, after being nominated for Best Actor at the Oscars last year (for Sound of Metal), he returns with a completely different project, a sci-fi movie that from the first trailer promises action and suspense: Encounter.
The film will be released in a limited number of theaters in the United States on December 3, and then debuted – also in Italy – on December 10 on Prime Video.
Encounter: plot and trailer
The plot of the film has not yet been revealed, but from the first teaser trailer released, some important details can be seen.
The protagonist of the story is a marine (Riz Ahmed), who embarks on an escape with his two sons to protect them from a mysterious threat. In the first frames released, Ahmed is seen armed with a sniper rifle, who momentarily abandons his son, telling him to count.
Typical action movie scenes follow, including shots of endless landscapes, cars lined up and military vehicles.
In the cast – alongside Ahmed – we find the Oscar winner Octavia Spencer (The help), Rory Cochrane, Lucian-River Chauhan and Aditya Geddada. The direction is instead entrusted to Michael Pearce, who has already made a name for himself with his recent debut film, the black fairy tale Beats.
Riz Ahmed has numerous other projects in the pipeline, including a contemporary version ofHamlet by William Shakespeare for Netflix and Exit West, a film that addresses the global refugee crisis and is set in an unidentified country in the Middle East.
So we just have to wait for December to enjoy it Encounter and to find out what is the danger that threatens the protagonists.
