Everything we know about Samsung Galaxy S23

Samsung is about to launch its new top of the range, the primo smartphone premium outgoing in 2023. The first official marketing images have just leaked online and we thought it was a perfect time to take stock of what we know about Samsung Galaxy S23: specs, design, possible release date and price.

Samsung Galaxy S23: specs, design and everything we know

Samsung remains the first smartphone manufacturer in the world, capable of supplying products from a few hundred euros up to the foldable devices of the Galaxy X series. But the flagship of Samsung’s production remains the Galaxy S line, which it has been producing since 2010.

The new Samsung Galaxy S23 should retain the “triple edition” seen in the last three years: a “basic” model, a Plus version and an Ultra (which, like last year, will actually replace the Galaxy Notes and will have support for the S Pen). Here’s everything we know about the new smartphones.

When will the new top of the range arrive?

Samsung in recent years has always presented its smartphones in February, preferring the first half of the month. The only exception is the launch of the Galaxy S21 series, which arrived in January. This year, however, the event of launch will be February 1, 2023.

Samsung has decided to hold the first Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event live, after years of online events due to Covid. The presentation will be held at Masonic Auditorium of San Francisco starting at 10:00 local time (19:00 in Italy).

The design of the new top of the range

In recent years the line Galaxy S has taken on a precise style, which it seems that Samsung wants to confirm this year too, albeit with small variations. But the back of the smartphone is marked by the cameras at the top left, arranged vertically.

Again this year the cameras will be raised and separated from the rest of the device only by a metal circle around the sensor. On the front a screen interrupted only by a punch-hole at top center. However, it appears that they will be more boxy than their predecessors.

The colors for the S23 and S23 Plus models – which are only slightly larger in terms of design than the basic model – should be black, green and pink.

Instead, the model Galaxy S23 Ultra should retain last year’s design, with a sharper profile and the ability to insert the S Pen into the smartphone. In addition to the three main cameras, there are two other supporting sensors on the back.

As for the colors, they should be the same as in the basic version with the addition of white.

From the point of view of the specifications there are several new things to come, especially with regard to the camera of the Ultra model, which they should have a 200MP sensor.

Processor and technical specifications

Recently, Qualcomm and Samsung announced a global agreement for the supply of smartphone chips. There’s no specifics in the statement, but judging by the timeline it seems like confirmation of that Samsung Galaxy S23 is expected to have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. However, it is not to be excluded that Samsung mounts a homemade Exynos chip in some markets (such as the Korean one, but perhaps also the European one). SamMobile reports that an enhanced version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 could also arrive.

Your device should have Qualcomm modems and support for WiFi 6E e Bluetooth 5.3, the fastest standards currently available.

There are no confirmations regarding RAM and memory, but it seems reasonable to assume that Samsung will not decrease the amount compared to last year: at least 8GB of RAM and 120GB to 1TB storage.

Galaxy S23 should have a 6.1-inch screen, while the 6.6-inch Plus model, both with resolution FHD+ and 2340 x 1080. The Ultra model will instead have a screen of 1440p e refresh rate yes 120Hz (in this area, expect some technological surprises on the stage of the presentation).

Finally, the battery should range from 4,000mAh of the basic model to 5,000mAh of the Ultra model (Plus at 4,700mAh), with fast charging at 25W for the basic model and 45W for the Ultra. There will be support for both wireless charging and reverse charging of headphones and other small devices.

Camera

Samsung shouldn’t change too much photographically for the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus models, which will have sensors with the same specs as last year. Then a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide angle and a 10MP telephotowhile in front we find a sensor for i selfie da 10MP.

The Ultra model instead will have the first 200MP camera, nearly doubling from last year’s 108MP. It should be the sensor Samsung ISOCELL HP2capable of capturing much more light than the current equipment.

Otherwise, the equipment should remain similar. 12MP ultra-wide angle, two 10MP telephotos with the ability to zoom up to 100x, and a 40MP front sensor for selfies. However, Samsung should debut the Ultra Stabilization, capable of recording video that will compete with the Action Mode of the iPhone. Expect other software news: at Samsung Unpacked there will be a lot of talk about photographs and videos.

Samsung Galaxy S23: the possible prices

Samsung is expected to keep prices the same as last year when new devices are launched, using the same tactic adopted by Apple for iPhones. Then in the US they will launch for $799 for the Basic, $999 for the Plus, and $1,199 for the Ultra (more taxes).

In Italy the situation could be different, with some increases compared to the past. Last year the base model it cost 879 euros at launch, while the Plus 1,079 and the Ultra 1,279 euros. At the moment it is difficult to evaluate any price increases, which may not even arrive. But be prepared to shell out a little more.

These are the information currently available on the Samsung Galaxy S23 and its “brothers” Plus and Ultra. We will keep you updated on any news.
