Let’s start with the packaging. The CB8’s box is smaller than other similar products from the EZVIZ brand, with a narrow and long shape. With a white background, the box features on top the company name EZVI and the internal image of the C3X; on the front we find the various components and methods of use with an image of the camera operating in the rain. On the sides we find the list of languages available for the manual and an image of the App running on the smartphone. Finally on the back, we find the full model name with the barcode and a brief description of EZVIZ and the product.

By opening the package, we can finally take out our “smart camera”. This is positioned in such a way that it cannot move inside the package, so as not to be damaged during transport. At first glance, the C3X made a really good impression on me. The design is in the EZVIZ style, not clashing with the surrounding environment and not attracting too much attention.
The camera body is covered in a water-resistant plastic material and has a truly considerable weight; the regulating bracket present between the main body of the camera and the wall fixing base is also solid (at least this is the impression it conveys).. But compared to other devices of different brands which easily deteriorate over time, this camera seems more resistant.
In the front part we find the two lenses, the motion sensor, the microphone and the security siren, while in the lower part we find a small recess. This contains the input for external memory (Micro SD max 256GB) and is protected by a cover in the same color as the camera.
Tests | EZVIZ C3X camera review
Now we come to the most important and fun part, the one relating to the tests carried out on my C3X. After several tests, to try to understand if this product was at the level of its colleagues from the same brand (which I had the pleasure of trying previously), I had my answer: definitely yes. I have to admit that in the end I was happy with the performance provided (especially considering the price).
An advantageous point is already given by the fact that the camera is fully assembled and ready to use. You just need to carefully decide where to place it. Like the other components of the EZVIZ family, when using wi-fi you must be careful (and this is advice to ensure it performs 100%) in placing it near a router or a Wi-Fi extender; while if you have an ethernet cable long enough to be able to take it outside this problem does not arise.
Another positive side is the app, to which the company has now accustomed us very well. As with many other tested devices from this brand, the app is easy to download and install. Using and registering is really simple, e.g the connection with our device, via the QR Code, is really fast.
In detail
First I installed the app and scanned the QR Code to connect my device to the smartphone. After I carefully chose the right position for the device(obviously I recommend not positioning it close to strong lights or headlights, being careful to be able to pass the wires) and I began to test the various functions of my C3X.
Being a mid-range device, I immediately noticed the difference with other “similar” lower-end devices; in fact, both during the day and in the evening, the videos and photos taken via the app showed excellent details and good quality. And if we think about the selling price of this camera, this is already a plus. Negative note, there is no possibility of movementso I advise you to choose the right position carefully.
Finally, the “Intelligent Detection” sensor left me a little confused. The camera should record and send a notification to the smartphone in case of human presence; but often the notifications also arrive with the presence of large insects moving in front of the lens.
The speaker level when speaking via the app is also quite satisfactory. The voice is very clear and strong. The siren alarm is very good (which we can trigger at any time via the app if we see something strange via the live video); accompanied this by a strong stroboscopic light (which obviously makes much more in the dark).
Final thoughts
Summing up, I can be quite satisfied with this product (you can see the limits compared to its higher priced “brothers”). The hardware configuration is extremely simple: just download the app, scan the QR code and pair the device to make it immediately ready for use. Furthermore, by inserting a micro SD, it is possible to record the events generated by the camera every time it detects a passage in front of it.
After several tests, I noticed many features that I really liked, while other things need improvement.
On the plus side for sure the price; very affordable for a mid-range camera. Furthermore the quality; the images provided are clear both day and night. Finally, the app is really convenient and the installation is quick and easy.
As negatives, if we want to be picky, there is the fact that compared to other wireless cameras, with this product we are more “constrained” in choosing the position of use. Some problems with live footage when the line is a little weaker. Then we must add that the cloud recording service is very expensive. Finally, you can’t program or manually activate night vision, which could be a problem with LED street lighting.
In conclusion, despite these small flaws, I can say that this camera does what it was created for well. In fact, for domestic applications and situations where the budget is limited, very positive work is being done.
