With a light background, the box features on top the company name EZVIZ and the whole image of the CB2; on the rear parts we find: the various components and methods of use, the list of languages available for the manual and the complete name of the model with the barcode. Materials and design | EZVIZ CB2 Camera Review
The CB2 initially made a good impression on me. Its design fits perfectly into the EZVIZ style, harmonizing with its surroundings without attracting too much attention. Its very small dimensions really allow you to install the camera wherever you want.
The camera body is covered in a very resistant plastic material, giving it a considerable weight. The connection between the base and the installation surface conveys a feeling of true robustness. Unlike other devices from different brands that tend to deteriorate easily over time, this camera seems to be more resistant.
Inside the case, the camera contains a battery with a capacity of 2000 mAh. It is important to underline that the bottom of the camcorder is equipped with a magnet. This allows you to attach it to the base (also magnetic) and position it almost anywhere with ease.
The lens is placed on the front, along with the motion sensor, microphone and speaker. At the back, there is a small recess containing the input for external memory (Micro SD, max 512GB), and the input for the charging/power cable. We also find the reset button and the power button.
Tests | EZVIZ CB2 Camera Review
Now we come to the most important and fun part, the one relating to the tests carried out on my CB2. After several tests, and having tried it in “all sauces”, I must admit she left me happy with the performance provided (especially considering the price).
An advantageous aspect is represented by the fact that the camera is already fully assembled and ready for use. It is enough to make an accurate decision on the place of placement. Like other devices of this type, it is It is advisable to place the camera near a router or Wi-Fi extender to maximize performance.
Another positive aspect concerns the app, an element for which the company has already accustomed its users with high standards. As with many other tested devices from this brand, the app is easy to download and install. Use and registration are extremely intuitive, and the connection to our device via the QR Code is extremely fast.
In detail
First I installed the app and scanned the QR Code to connect my device to my smartphone (really quick and easy operation). After that, I carefully chose the right location for the device. Negative note, there is no possibility of movementso I advise you to choose the right position carefully.
The sensor offers a viewing angle of 100°, 85° (diagonal) and 46° (horizontal), ensuring optimal surveillance if the camera is positioned correctly. The quality of the recordings completely met our expectations. The maximum resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels, and clips are recorded at 15 frames per second. Considering that it is a battery-powered mini-camera, these performances are very positive.
In default mode, the camera records when it detects movement through the infrared PIR sensor, which detects heat sources such as people or animals. It is possible, however, to change the operating mode so that recording occurs continuously. This is provided that the camera is connected to the power supply and that there is a sufficiently large micro-SD card. As for autonomy, using the default settings, after about 2 weeks the battery is still charged. This parameter may vary depending on the customized settings and the number of detections made by the camera.
In fine, I was a little taken aback by the “Intelligent Detection” sensor (not always immediate) and the fact that cannot be used in “spy” mode (since the automatic activation of the sensor at night lights up the LED). The speaker level when speaking via the app is also quite satisfactory. The voice is very clear and strong.
Final thoughts
In summary, sI am quite satisfied with this product, although I see its limitations compared to higher priced models. The hardware configuration is extremely simple: simply download the app, scan the QR code and pair the device to make it immediately ready for use. By adding a micro SD, it is possible to record the events generated by the camera every time it detects a passage in front of it.
After various tests, I noticed several features that I really appreciate, but there are also some aspects that could be improved. Among the positive sides there are certainly the dimensions of the product, the price, very accessible (we are still talking about a low-end video camera), the quality of the clear images both day and night, and the convenient app with simple installation it’s fast.
As for the negativesOn a nitpicky note, there were some issues with shooting live when the signal is weak. It should also be highlighted that the cloud recording service is expensive. Finally, it is not possible to program or manually activate night vision, which does not allow use in stealth mode (but remember that it was not created for this purpose).
In conclusion, despite these small critical issues, I think this camera does its main job well. It is particularly suitable for home applications and situations where budget is limited, providing an overall positive performance.
