Captain Falcon travels so fast he goes back in time to the SNES: here’s the classic mode, coming to F-Zero 99
If the penultimate episode of our guide to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has made you want to get behind the wheel of Nintendo Switch but without any plumber involved, F-Zero 99 might be right for you: subscribers to Nintendo Switch Online they will receive the classic mode tomorrow itself, November 29to compete like in the days of the original on SNES. Similarly to what happened in the past with Tetris 99, here too the elements from battle royale are lost in favor of a more authentic experience. We will still compete online, but the number of participants will be reduced to a more reasonable one twenty. You can see the contents of the version 1.1.0 in the Japanese tweet below.

F-Zero 99 goes retro: here is the classic mode, worthy of the first chapter on SNES
Naturally, with the removal of the battle royale elements, the screwed attack and, above all, the Aerostrada with which to fly over most of the most difficult curves of each circuit are also automatically excluded. You won’t even be able to increase your energy reserve by exploding other unfortunates, although turbo boosts will be available with each completed lap. However, since Nintendo never does things by halves, classic mode will limit the scope to… well, classics four thirds, instead of the now ubiquitous 16:9 widescreen. The battle royale is limited exclusively to Nintendo Switch Online members, and this also extends to past chapters of the series.
