Facebook grows by 56%
Mark Zuckerberg’s company posted unprecedented profit, increasing from 101% earnings up to close 10.4 billion dollars. This is also because the number of active users on the platforms is increasing: the aggregate figure of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp rises by 12% compared to last year. It means 2.76 billion people use Facebook’s services every day. A truly global base.
“We had a strong quarter and we continue to help companies grow and people stay connected,” comments the CEO Mark Zuckerberg. “I am thrilled to see our major creators and community initiatives, commerce and the possibility of building the next computing platform come together. They bring our vision of the metaverse to life ”.
Facebook’s top takings come from advertising and in this category the company has seen one growth of 47% on an annual basis. This is although the new iOS privacy guidelines provide that users can choose not to be tracked by trackers when they are within apps. Facebook is opposed to this feature but at least for the moment the revenues have not dropped, quite the contrary. But the CFO David Wehner predicts there may be some negative impacts in the third quarter of the year.
A recent study indicated that 25% of iOS users have decided not to be tracked from apps and it looks like this number may be growing. But for the moment Facebook continues with record takings, as is happening for almost the entire tech sector in the last quarter.
