After the warm welcome given to the Fallout TV series, the creator of the original video game also applauded the adaptation
Tim Cain, role-playing game designer and original Fallout project lead, posted a nearly 17 minute video on his YouTube channel to comment on the Hollywood premiere of the TV series available on Prime Video. Cain praised the series, but also expressed frustration over the destructive comments against those who worked on the show.
Tim Cain was invited by Bethesda's Todd Howard to the premiere at the Chinese Theatre of Los Angeles, showering the making of the series with praise after seeing the first two episodes. He particularly appreciated the performances and the narrative, but his main compliment concerns the series' ability to reproduce the atmosphere of the video game. On this point he said:
I was looking at all the props. After a few minutes I realized that I hadn't been following the dialogue at all, because I was so visually engrossed in it.
Fallout: the TV series was also appreciated by the creator of the video games
In his video, Tim Cain touched on a topic close to his heart, pointing the finger at toxic fan comments, particularly regarding any perceived rivalry between Fallout titles developed by Bethesda (3, 4 and 76) and those of Interplay, Black Isle, e Obsidian (1, 2 and New Vegas). Cain spoke positively about Todd Howard. The reference is to the heated debate over whether the series voluntarily ignored the events of non-Bethesda video games, a theory promptly denied by a senior developer of the studio.
At the show's premiere Tim Cain met Brian Fargo, founder of the original Fallout publisher Interplay and currently head of the role-playing game studio inXile. In the past, Cain criticized Fargo when he explained why he abandoned development of it Fallout 2 to found their own studio and then specify that theirs is still a friendly relationship. Returning to the series then, the enormous success implied the inevitable renewal for the second season.
