Fastweb: la partnership con EOLO per una migliore connettività in Italia thumbnail

Fastweb announces the partnership with EOLO

Fastweb e EOLO have recently announced a strategic partnership that promises to revolutionize connectivity in underserved areas of Italy. This alliance aims to bridging the digital divide through the deployment of the most widespread 5G FWA network in the countryusing frequencies in the 26 GHz band.

What does the partnership between Fastweb and EOLO involve?

The agreement provides that Fastweb, exploiting the frequencies acquired in the auction 5G of 2018, and EOLO, with its FWA infrastructurecollaborate for offer very high-speed connectivity servicesreaching speeds of downloads up to 1 Gbps. This will allow you to extend the ultra-broadband coverage to approximately 3.5 million residential units. The goal is to reach 5 million by 2029.

EOLO, benefiting from Fastweb's 26 GHz band spectrum, will be able to improve its offering of FWA services, consolidating its leading position in the sector. Furthermore, thanks to network access in fibra FTTHEOLO plans to expand its coverage, adding approximately 2.5 million housing units to its network.

The agreement is currently awaiting approval from the competent authorities, but in the meantime the two companies have expressed mutual satisfaction. In particular Walter RennaCEO of Fastweb, said:

“We once again confirm our DNA as an operator with a strong infrastructural and innovation vocation. The partnership with EOLO allows us to use the spectrum even more efficiently to quickly expand the coverage of the ultra broadband network at our disposal. A network that we will then make available to third-party operators, to make our mission as a wholesale operator increasingly robust.”

Below are the words of Guido GarroneCEO of EOLO:

“The partnership with Fastweb represents further confirmation of the strategic role of the FWA in breaking down the digital divide, as a complementary solution to FTTH where fiber is uneconomical. Thanks to the 26 GHz frequencies, the network infrastructure and the experience gained over 15 years in the entire FWA production chain, we can follow up on our evolutionary roadmap based on 5G millimeter wave technology for the offer of high-speed services. 1 Giga, further strengthening our leadership in the FWA market.”
