Electronic Arts has announced that the cross play function will be added very soon in FIFA 22 and that this functionality will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X | S and Stadia. It therefore seems that at the moment this is a possibility that will be activated only for the next gen game consoles, but let’s take a look at how it is activated.
FIFA 22: how is cross play activated?
As for this first wave, cross play will only be implemented for some specific modes, namely online friendlies and online seasons. In these two game modes, therefore, we will have the opportunity to run into players based on any of the currently supported platforms, greatly expanding the catchment area for matchmaking.
“We have limited the test to these two modes with the aim of reducing the chances of introducing new problems to the game,” explained the developers of EA. “We are confident that the game data and feedback we will get from these two modes will help inform us on how cross-play can be further implemented in future titles.”
Activating the crossplay option in any way is very simple. Once the test has officially started, simply press the right trigger of your controller in the main menu to open a window dedicated to cross play. Here you can decide whether to keep the option active or if, on the contrary, deactivate it.
