The hugely popular videogame franchise dedicated to football could change its name: from FIFA to EA Sports Football Club. Here are all the details of the operation.

Is EA Sports Football Club the future of FIFA?

After almost 30 years (the first chapter dates back to 1993) the FIFA franchise seems to be destined to end. Indeed, to be less tragic, to evolve, as has already happened to its main competitor PES. The name change had already been announced by EA last year, when the company confirmed its intention to review the naming rights of the videogame series with the Fédération Internationale de Football Association.

According to Jeff Grubb, insider and journalist, the new name has already been chosen and approved: EA Sports Football Club. “I had seen the new brand before, but I thought it was just a new online mode. However, I asked around a bit and I found out that this will be the new name of the videogame, ”said the reporter.

Grubb also said that the current licenses are expiring after the World Cup in Quatar. There would therefore be time for a final FIFA 23 before the federation decides not to renew the rights and licenses contract. “FIFA is ready to turn the page and open a new chapter,” said Grubb. Also according to VGC this could be the last time we will see the two logos (EA and FIFA) close together.
