In the latest “Letter from the Producer LIVE”, Naoki Yoshida, Director and Producer of Final Fantasy XIV, announced that Endwalker has been postponed: let’s find out together the new release date and all the details
Currently, Square Enix has three titles in development related to its flagship series. From Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2 (name still unofficial), to Stranger of Paradise, passing through the fugitive Final Fantasy XVI, it is now very clear that fans of the brand will have something to enjoy in the years to come. And then there’s him, the fomenter of madness, the redeemed MMORPG after an inglorious start: Final Fantasy XIV. A chapter that has been able to create around itself a truly frightening community, close-knit and in love with every aspect. A community that is currently waiting for the last expansion planned for this story arc, Endwalker, but which apparently will still have to wait a bit. In the last Letter from the Producer, Naoki Yoshida has in fact officially announced the postponement of a couple of weeks of Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, which therefore passes from its release scheduled for November 23 to the date of December 7.
Yoshida began the letter apologizing for the necessary postponement, and trying to explain to the fans the reasons why he then came to this conclusion:
There are many reasons for the postponement, but considering that I am overseeing all aspects of the title as project leader, the responsibility rests solely with me. Let me offer my sincere apologies to our gamers, our Warriors of Light around the world who have been waiting for the release of Endwalker for so long. I’m so sorry.
Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker postponed for a couple of weeks, Yoshida explains his reasons!
Yoshida then continues the Letter explaining that the predominant factor behind this postponement was his failure to balance the roles of Producer and Director:
[…] However, as we neared the end of development and played all the content – from missions to combat and whatnot – I just couldn’t contain the desire to further improve the quality of Endwalker, particularly as this expansion pack marks the pinnacle of FFXIV narrative events so far. Even looking beyond Endwalker, the FFXIV story will continue for a long time to come and we hope to be able to create many new and excellent experiences for the game. However, precisely because Endwalker concludes the first saga, I feel that our team must push beyond the limits that I set myself.
In short, Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker has been officially postponed to next 7 December, while the Early Access period of the expansion will begin on December 3rd. Two patches have already been scheduled, 6.01 and 6.05, which will be available from December 21st and January 4th respectively. We will therefore have to wait a little longer, but we are sure it will be worth it.
