Based on the new Mustang Dark Horse 2024the racing car Mustang GT3 was introduced to the racing world today in celebration of the centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, on the eve of the famous race.

With the presentation, the new Ford Mustang makes its official entry into the FIA GT3 category worldwide. Ford’s last triumph at the 24 Hours of Le Mans dates back to 2016 with the Ford GT.

And now we are returning to the most exciting, most rewarding and most important race in the world,” he said Jim Farley, CEO di Ford Motor Company. “It’s not about anymore Ford versus Ferrari. It’s Ford against everyone. Returning to Le Mans is the start of building a global motorsports business with Mustang, just like we are doing with the Bronco and Raptor off-road.”
New brand, new logo
In conjunction with the unveiling, Ford is also unveiling new global Ford Performance branding, a cleaner, streamlined look that will now be featured on all of its competition vehicles.
This expressive and captivating new identity will help position Ford Performance as a leading lifestyle brandwith a strong sporting connotation. The new Ford Performance brand is easy to integrate into various industries and spaces, including car liveries, merchandising/apparel, product displays, parts/accessories and advertising.
Two longtime partners
For the realization of this project, Ford Performance extended his relationship with two longtime partners, Multimatic e M-Sport. Multimaticbuilder of the iconic Ford GT, has also been involved in the Ford GT racing program and will help build and service the Mustang GT3s, while M-Sport, involved in the World Rally Championship and a two-championship winning team, will assemble the Ford Performance-developed 5.4-liter Coyote V8 engines that power this powerful new pony car.
“For a project like the Mustang GT3, we turned to two of our strongest partners in motorsport for invaluable input in the realization of this vehicle and the entire program,” said Mark Rushbrook, global director, Ford Performance Motorsports. “In 2024 we will all be thrilled, just like Ford fans, as soon as we see Mustang racing at the highest level of GT racing.”
The racing car Mustang GT3 And equipped with Of special SLA double wishbone suspension, rear-mounted transaxle gearbox, carbon fiber body panels and an aerodynamic treatment developed specifically for the GT3.
Proton Competition becomes the first WEC customer team for the Mustang GT3
Before debuting at Le Mans in 2024, the Mustang GT3 will compete in various GT3 series around the world with independent teams.
The first independent team, announced today, is Proton Competition. Based in Ehingen, Germany, Proton will field a pair of Mustang GT3 In the FIA World Endurance Championshipstarting in 20241.
“This is a very important project and an exciting time for our organisation,” said Christian Ried, Proton Competition team principal. “Mustang is a great brand and this is an important step for our team. We look forward to joining Ford starting in 2024.”
Ford Performance will also field an official racing program featuring two Mustang GT3 cars in the IMSA GTD Pro class. This program will be managed by Multimatic Motorsports and will start at Rolex 24 Daytona 2024.
