Following the new provisions of the European Union, Fortnite will arrive on iPad devicesmarking a new chapter in the tug-of-war between the developer Epic Games e Apple.
The decision follows the obligation imposed on Apple to make changes similar to those already made for iPhone, in response to the regulation of Digital Markets Act (DMA). This law identifies iPadOS acts as a “digital gatekeeper”pushing Apple to give users the ability to download applications from alternative marketplaces to the App Store.
Fortnite will be downloadable on iPhone and iPad from the Epic Games Store
The version of Fortnite for iPhone is eagerly awaited and will be downloadable viaEpic Games Store (so not from the App Store). In fact with the update to iOS 17.4, It is already possible for iPhone users in the EU to download apps from sources other than the App Storeand with iOS 17.5, also directly from the developers' websites.
Today, the European Commission said that iPads will also need to comply with the Digital Markets Act 🙌

Within six months, it is expected that EU users will be able to enjoy the same freedom on iPad, downloading applications from alternative marketplaces and websites. However, it is important to highlight that such changes will be applied exclusively in the European Unionwhile the iPad app ecosystem will remain unchanged in the rest of the world.
