FUJIFILM is ready to present the new X-T5, mirrorless digital camera, which embodies the original value of the X Series and refinement of operation in analog style.
The new FUJIFILM X-T5, wants to be X-T5 the new reference camera for photography, as it offers superior performance and portability of previous models at the same time. It features a sleek design with analog-style dials and three-way tilting LCD screen, is smaller and lighter than its predecessor, and features a 40.2MP back-illuminated X-TransTM CMOS 5 HR sensor from an engine X-Processor 5 high-speed image processing, plus advanced features including 5-axis internal image stabilization up to 7.0 stops.
The performance boost achieved with the X-T5 includes improved image quality, ISO125 as standard sensitivity, 1 / 180000s faster shutter speed, and the use of Pixel Shift Multi-Shot to expand photographic variations. Other features are included such as Smooth Skin Effect, subject-detection AF capable of detecting animals and birds, and AI-based high-precision automatic white balance, which assists users in producing high-quality photographic images.
This mirrorless inherits the XT series center viewfinder style and analog style design with mechanical dials. In addition, a new 1.84 million-pixel three-way tilting LCD screen has been integrated that makes vertical or waist-height shooting more comfortable than ever. All wrapped up in a 557g body.
FUJIFILM with the flagship models FUJIFILM X-H2S and FUJIFILM X-H2, cameras covering both photo and video productions, and now X-T5, which is optimized for photographic functions, further expands the genres of visual production. Fujifilm’s further enhanced range of products will continue to meet the diverse needs of photographers and video creators.
FUFIFILM X-T5: main features and news
X-T5 is equipped with the 40.2 MP back-illuminated “X-TransTM CMOS 5 HR” sensor
The use of an improved image processing algorithm offers enhanced image resolution without compromising the S / N ratio for superior image quality. The X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor can absorb more light efficiently thanks to its optimized pixel structure. ISO125, which was an extended ISO level in the previous model, is now available as a standard option. The exposure time is controlled with high precision, allowing users to set the shutter speed down to 1/180000 of a second. This means that brighter lenses can be used wide open in a greater variety of conditions.
This camera is equipped with the Pixel Shift Multi-Shot function, which quadruples the image resolution and enables accurate color reproduction, ideal for commercial photography and digital archiving of cultural assets. The IBIS mechanism is used to move the image sensor with high precision to perform automatic shooting of 20 frames with a single click of the shutter button. The dedicated “Pixel Shift Combiner” software processes the captured frames to generate a final image of approximately 160 million pixels.
There is also the Smooth Skin Effect feature, which automatically smoothes skin tones, reducing the post-processing workload required in portrait photography, so images can be refined to an advanced level of perfection faster than ever. .
Hardware, design and features that provide powerful content creation support
- Present internal 5-axis image stabilization up to 7.0 stops. Users can shoot handheld even in low light conditions, such as in night landscape photography. The IBIS mechanism is also used to move the image sensor in high precision when shooting with the Pixel Shift Multi-Shot function.
- AI-powered subject detection AF, based on deep learning technology, can detect animals, birds, cars, motorcycles, airplanes and trains. The system automatically tracks a subject while maintaining focus, so users can focus on shooting opportunities and framing.
- The X-TransTM CMOS 5 HR sensor has more phase detection pixels than the previous model; this allows for better precision in AF-S focusing on a high frequency subject, providing accurate autofocus in all those situations where AF-S is normally used, such as landscape photography and portrait photography. The use of an improved predictive algorithm offers stable focusing even in AF-C mode.
- Three dials on the top panel for controlling ISO, shutter speed and exposure compensation. Users can check and change camera settings even before turning it on, as is the case with the aperture ring found on most XF lenses. This makes it easy to reflect the user’s photographic intentions into the operation of the camera.
- A new feature of the camera is the 1.84 million pixel LCD screen with 3-way tilt system, then three-way tilt. Makes it easy to shoot upright or at waist height, freeing users from constraints in a wide range of photographic situations.
- The camera features a 3.69 million pixel high-magnification EVF with 0.8x magnification. Compared to the previous model, the viewfinder has improved parallax and distortion suppression, which typically occurs when the eye position moves while using the viewfinder, for stellar visibility.
- The evolved IBIS stabilization mechanism and other devices, including the EVF viewfinder, resulted in a compact body weighing just 557g. Optimized operability with dials and buttons also led to body scaling and improved usability at the same time. All of this is integrated into a weather-resistant construction to allow users to carry the X-T5 in any weather with complete peace of mind.
Extensive video recording capabilities
- 6.2K movies can be recorded internally at 30P 4: 2: 2 with 10-bit color depth. The X-T5 features 4K HQ mode, which uses 6.2K oversampling to produce high-quality video, while taking full advantage of the high-resolution sensor to deliver video with higher image resolution.
- X-T5 supports F-Log2, which records a dynamic range of over 13 stops. This range is wider than the current F-Log, for greater potential in post-production.
- When combined with an ATOMOS HDMI device, the X-T5’s RAW video output can be recorded as 12-bit Apple ProRes RAW with 6.2K resolution and frame rates up to 29.97 fps. When combined with Blackmagic Design Video Assist 12G, RAW video output can be recorded in the Blackmagic RAW format with frame sizes up to 6.2K and framerates up to 29.97 fps.
