Tested notes report the news of the new GeForce RTX 4080 under MSRP in some countries, will this be a good sign? Let’s find out
The new NVIDIA video cards are finally available and many have turned up their noses regarding the proposed prices. While still balanced with the performance offered, many of these cards have gone far above the MSRP (“Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price”. PCGamesHardware however reports that the GeForce RTX 4080 from Gainward has already been offered at a price below the MSRP.
The original price of 1539€ it was in fact lowered to 1449€. This means that this card was sold at a price below the MSRP tedesco which is 1469€. This price, in fact, was considered as of reference al launch for the Founders Edition and a few other custom models.
GeForce RTX 4080: the critical points of the price
However it remains crucial to point out that this MSRP for this card it is as difficult as it is also to convince buyers to want to buy one. This is because the card is simply not a “smart shopping” also for the existence of the card RTX 4090 which, at a higher price, went right away sold-out.
The Gainward card in question is the model Phantom (and not the Golden Sample) with the reference-clocked but with the system custom cooling. The aforementioned model has been steadily falling in price since it was unveiled earlier this month.
The proposed offer a 1449€ it is certainly a beginning that bodes well; clearly the card has not yet gone sold-out also because it is one discount of only €20 from the MSRP price. For the GeForce RTX 4080 to be a good deal, though, NVIDIA needs to get moving. Time is ticking, and there are only two weeks left for the presentation of the AMD cards: the Radeon RX 7900.
