Gex Trilogy: the collection for all platforms announced with a trailer!

The most cartoonish secret agent in video games makes a big comeback on all platforms: here is the first trailer of Gex Trilogy

The platformers of the category “pets with character” are experiencing a second youth recently, and we are pleased to already have a first trailer for the return with great pomp of the first three adventures of the most loved videogame gecko with Gex Trilogy. Not only that: the collection will be as well on all platforms. The title, announced by Limited Run Games with the help of Square-Enix (which currently holds the rights), it will in fact come up PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch e PC (through Steam). Naturally, the presentation video doesn’t fail to mimic James Bond (and Snake’s “Kept you waiting, huh?”) as in the original titles. It should also be said that the gameplay is never delved into, suggesting that it is “just” a remaster more than a remake. You can see it below.

Beyond the trailer: what to expect from Gex Trilogy

What are the geckos… ahem, the games contained in Gex Trilogy, then? You can expect the former Gexthe sequel Gex: Enter the Gecko and the third chapter Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko, all three released on PS1 in the nineties. The first chapter received ports for 3D0, PC and Sega Saturn, while the two sequels were also seen on Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Color. The series also boasts Crystal Dynamics (Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver and Tomb Raiders Legend on, among others) as the original development team. The protagonist, the eponymous Gex, was played by comedian Dana Gould, who also served as screenwriter for the entire trilogy. Therefore, the series is dotted with quotes and parodies even outside of 007. The series has sold 15 million units (data updated to 2015), only to be canceled at the fourth chapter expected on PS2 and GameCube. We still don’t know what the exit window is for this reissue.
