The iconic first-person shooter, originally released in 1997 for the Nintendo 64, is now making its way to new consoles as well. Indeed, it was announced today that the release date of Goldeneye 007 for Nintendo Switch is set for January 27, 2023from the same day it will also be available in the catalogue Xbox Game Pass.
The port of the iconic video game was already announced last year by Raredeveloper of the original 1997 title. Since then, however, the software house had not shared further details, at least until today.

What we know about the port of Goldeneye 007, coming out on Switch and Game Pass
Originally released in 1997, Goldeneye 007 is regarded as one of the best FPS (first person shooter) of all time. It has sold over 8 million copies over the years, making it the third best-selling N64 game of all time, surpassed only by The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time and Super Smash Bros.
As far as we know there will be some differences between the Switch and Xbox versions. Primarily Nintendo users will be able to play online with your friends. A feature that will not be available on Microsoft consoles. However, Rare has confirmed that the Xbox version will include “achievements, 4K resolution and a smoother framerate, even in split-screen local multiplayer”
“Xbox is thrilled to bring GoldenEye 007 to Xbox Game Pass for the first time, a faithful recreation of an iconic and much loved title,” reads the official statement from Microsoft. “While there are no plans to include online multiplayer, the Xbox version will include local multiplayer for up to four players.”
