It is possible that the popular television series Good Omens, which is based on the novel of the same name by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, can return to the small screen with a third season. The news appears to have leaked from sources within Amazon Prime Video and the BBC, the two broadcasters that produce the series. Afterwards this news was reported by various websitesincluding some known for the reliability of their reporting.
Good Omens season three? Likely, but without Douglas Mackinnon
In any case, fans of the series will still have to deal with something new, in fact Douglas Mackinnon, director and executive producer of the first two seasons, has already announced his official exit from the project. Mackinnon made the announcement via a comment on Instagram, responding to a fan who asked him to keep the set after the third season of the series. The producer responded without mincing words: “I’m no longer involved in this show”, however he didn’t add further explanations.
Mackinnon’s exit from the series is also confirmed by Neil Gaiman, author of the original novel and co-creator of the series. The author interacts on Blensky with his followers and on this platform he wrote: “Douglas has dedicated himself to other projects”, but he has not revealed who the replacement will be. At the moment there is no other information on the hypothetical third season of Good Omens. If this rumor is confirmed, filming could begin as early as next year, in 2024.
