We had the GTA 6 trailer, now we also have the platforms: the PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI will have to wait, says Rockstar Games
The official trailer of Grand Theft Auto VIwhich we also report below if you prefer, was released hours and hours early following a leak, but fans waiting to be able to play GTA 6 with mouse and keyboard they still can’t uncork sparkling wine: the PC port will come after the console launch. The bittersweet confirmation comes from Rockstar Games itself. What already promises to be the magnum opus of reference for the development team in the years to come will be, at least initially, available only on Xbox Series X, PS5 and Xbox Series S. The stratospheric success of its predecessor on computers led many to take for granted a simultaneous launch on multiple platforms, but apparently things won’t go that way.
PC, GTA VI fans are waiting for you here: Grand Theft Auto 6 “released” first on console
Allow us to translate and quote verbatim the development team’s statement on the matter. “Rockstar Games, the publishing label on behalf of Take-Two Interactive Software, is proud to announce that Grand Theft Auto 6 will arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S entertainment systems in 2025,” without any mention of the PC version. It’s not the first time this has happened, after the late ports of the fourth and fifth chapters of Rockstar’s flagship series (as well as Red Dead Redemption 2). “The greatest and most engaging evolution of the saga” is set in the fictional state of Leonidas, an imaginary variant of Florida, much as Vice City is Miami in everything but name.
