Grim Fandango Remastered: the physical edition for Nintendo Switch arrives
Grim Fandango is a graphic adventure released in 1998, which had Tim Schafer as the head of the project, fresh from the successes of the first two Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion: Day of the Tentacle. The story contains several references to Mexican culture and in particular to the dia de los muertos, Mexican celebration of the dead revisited in a noir key. The protagonist is Manuel “Manny” Calavera, a travel agent of the Department of Death who due to the sins he committed in life is forced to sell packages to deceased souls in the city of El Midollo, in the faint hope of being able to cancel his debt and then leave the Ninth Beyond.
Despite the tepid commercial response, Grim Fandango was immediately acclaimed by critics and gamers, becoming one of the most beloved graphic adventures of Lucas Arts. Grim Fandango Remastered includes character textures redesigned in high resolution, new dynamic lighting, the original soundtrack re-recorded with a full live orchestra, more than 2 hours of exclusive developer commentary and the ability to consult the concept art behind the project. This physical edition is therefore an indispensable object for all lovers of video game history.
