Hisense Italia: concrete, convinced and continuous initiatives, with a commitment that the company has been pursuing with determination since 2012.
For an electronics manufacturer, having a “Green” approach means adopting sustainable production processes, relying on renewable energy, reducing waste and eliminating harmful substances, ma the management of electronic waste (WEEE) also has a far from indifferent weight, a topic for which Hisense has always shown great interest and a concrete commitment since 2012.
The company, in fact, adheres to Erion, the main Italian multi-consortium system dedicated to the eco-sustainable management of waste associated with electronic products with the aim of recovering secondary raw materials, as regulated by the relevant legislation. In this way, Hisense Italia has embraced the principle of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), which involves it in the management of the product even at the end of its life cycle.
Hisense: Erion and a “virtuous culture”
Through Erion, Hisense takes care of the management of WEEE (Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment), but also of the Waste Batteries and Accumulators that are part of the products themselves. The company also participates as a member of the Board of Directors of Erion WEEE – the system consortium dedicated to WEEE – actively engaging in shaping a virtuous culture in the management of waste deriving from electronic products and concretely contributing to environmental protection.
The numbers of Hisense’s commitment give substance to its mission: in the five-year period 2016-2020 they were collected – on behalf of Hisense Italia – more than 23,000 tons of technological waste, of which 6,193 only in 2020. All this made it possible to recycle, in 2020 alone, 5,435 tons of raw materials, equal to 12 high-speed trains, to avoid the emission of 90,226 tons of CO2eq, equal to the stoppage of 27,727 cars that travel 20 thousand kilometers a year, and to save 12,937,388 kWh, corresponding to the electricity consumption of 11,772 inhabitants in one year.
“Hisense’s commitment on the Italian territory is in line with the company’s global strategy on sustainability issues – he said Gianluca Di Pietro, CEO of Hisense Italia – and it is a real assumption of responsibility towards a planet that we want to protect. Consumers help us a lot in this process because they show an increasing sensitivity to these issues, making us proud of what we do and certain that we have taken the right path “.
Hisense has long been committed globally to offer the best technologies that help reduce energy consumption and protect the environment.
In particular, the “Hisense HFC-245fa Reduction Demonstration Project” was successfully carried out in China from 2018 to 2021, aimed at reducing the greenhouse effect through the improvement of foaming technology and the optimization of the refrigerator production chain. It was possible to reduce the consumption of HFC-245fa gas by more than 251 tons, which is equivalent to reducing CO2 emissions from the production chain by more than 256 tons per year.
Furthermore, the use of energy from alternative sources during its production processes has allowed Hisense to reduce electricity consumption by over 6.57 million kWh, decreasing the emission of carbon dioxide by almost 6 thousand tons.
