House of the Dragon will return with a second season, HBO has confirmed the renewal: news and previews on the plot
HBO has officially renewed House of the Dragon for a second season. The renewal for the second season was confirmed by the television broadcaster less than a week after the debut of the first season. The first episode, in fact, recorded incredible numbers, in fact this episode should be considered as the most-watched premiere for a new show in cable TV history. All expectations were exceeded and the product classified as a must-see show, so the epic saga of the Targaryen family will continue to be staged, with a second season. However, it’s still early to have a release date for the new season.
House of the Dragon second season, production and plot
For the first season it took 10 months of filming and a huge post-production job, which began in January 2022 and was still ongoing as the first episode debuted. Assuming constant maintenance of the quality of the series, it was anyway It’s unlikely that HBO and Sky would have been able to set the release date for the second season of House of the Dragon by 2023. It is, however, possible that we could expect a debut during the summer of 2024. The second season will pick up right where the first left off. The premiere could be titled A Son for a Son, or A son for a son. It would therefore suggest at least the attempt by Rhaenyra and Daemon to eliminate one of Alicent’s children, to avenge Lucerys.
It is likely that the second season of House of the Dragon will have two fewer episodes than the first. So will stop at 8 episodes. This is a decision made based on the plot.
