Huawei e Oppo announce the signing of a global agreement which mutually grants various patents, including the highly coveted patents for 5G. This partnership will allow advanced technologies to be exploited to enter companies, accelerating technological development.

Two Chinese tech giants grant each other access to patents essential to cell phone standards. In particular, technologies are very relevant filed by Huawei for 5G, a huge wealth of the company. Which can now be a strategic advantage for Oppo. But also the technological innovations of Oppo they are an important competitive factor, and will allow Huawei to grow.
Alan Fan, Director of Intellectual Property Department of Huaweiexplains: “After more than 20 years of constant innovation, Huawei has developed numerous portfolios of high-value patents in the global market, in areas such as 5G, Wi-Fi and audio/video codecs“.
Fan continues: “We are delighted to have entered into a cross licensing agreement with OPPO. Mutual recognition among companies of the value of intellectual property represents an important step towards promoting a positive cycle of innovation and research in the context of high-value standards: investing, obtaining returns from investments and subsequently reinvesting. This will enable our industry to continue to innovate and deliver more competitive products and services to consumers.”
Adler Feng, Chief Intellectual Property Manager of Oppo, instead explains: “We are very excited to have entered into a cross-licensing agreement on patents with Huawei. This is clear evidence that the two companies recognize the value of each other’s intellectual property and accord enormous respect to it. It’s a win-win deal for both parties.”
