A few days ago we told you about when we went to the legendary Vallelunga circuit for a test drive Sportequipe 8, the new SUV from the DR Automobiles Group. But the bouquet of this car company is very broad and we didn’t want to limit ourselves. And so we took the opportunity to really put it to the test Ickx K2, the off-road vehicle from another company brand, to discover its limits. And we realized that it really doesn’t have many.
Ickx K2, tested off-road and inside
Having been on the market for a few months now, our test of this vehicle has moved on a slightly different plan. By now enthusiasts know the characteristics of the K2 and have a rather precise idea of its capabilities. For this reason we pleasantly took advantage of the opportunity offered to us to go a little further and really challenge him.
This is why we started from the context as far away as possible from what this vehicle was created for: a nice city route (and little beyond). We then set off around the circuit, exploring some more or less wide streets, going right into the more urban streets.
One way to see how the Ickx K2 behaved even well outside the scope that is most congenial to it. Despite this however, we felt it was particularly convincing. We would never recommend choosing a vehicle of this type for anyone who would mainly use it in the city. However, in our test he managed to do his duty without major difficulties and did not make himself feel encumbered, except in the most critical moments.
But at this point why not see it in its territory?
And if the city route was a way to put him in difficulty with an unexpected contextwhat remained of testing the Ickx K2 on a real off-road stretch. But it’s not enough to venture onto the dirt road to hope to give a challenge worthy of the name to a model of this kind. Luckily, however, the Vallelunga circuit offered a perfect space, where you could really push the car to the maximum.
Here we were able to see with surprise the enormous potential of the Ickx K2, even off-road. An obstacle course, which saw him face steep climbs, sections that put the suspension to the test, passages through water and even a section with a very strong lateral inclination. All passed without even making a move. Or rather, there was a crease in the inclined section, but… Well, we understand each other, right?
So? This Ickx K2 off-road vehicle is this what we expected or not? The answer is definitely yes. A vehicle truly capable of tackling extreme conditions without feeling fatigue, even in the hands of those who are not strictly accustomed to this type of environment. Conversely, if transported to a more urban environment, it appears rather out of place, but still manages to make its contribution.
It is undoubtedly therefore a type of automobile with an extremely precise target, which manages to fully satisfy. If you are among these, try giving it a look. Otherwise, if you’re just looking for a big, wide car, better to focus on more urban modelsmaybe Sportequipe 8…
