Harrison Ford, the actor who brought the unforgettable Indiana Jones to life, has decided to say goodbye to the saga. Other projects await him
If we think about who could be the most famous archaeologist in the world, the answer is immediately ready: Indiana Jones. With its 5 chapters, Harrison Ford, protagonist of the films, managed to glue millions of spectators to the screen, rightfully entering among the most famous actors on the international scene. But now, having reached the age of 81 and with a new chapter coming out at the cinema, he said he was determined to conclude his journey with this character. Here are his words.
Goodbye Indiana Jones! – Indiana Jones: the farewell of Harrison Ford
It was during an interview with CNN that Harrison Ford has decided to make this statement. Certainly not a bolt from the blue, since many were expecting similar news. But the reasons that led Ford to accept one last time the role in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny are very clear:
Six years ago, I thought maybe we should make another movie. It had to be age focused because I think it completes the story we’ve been telling. The previous film ended with a suspended narrative, there wasn’t that closure that the character deserved and that I always hoped for. It was necessary to complete it, addressing the issue of age; not making jokes about it, but making it a real thing.
The actor also added that leaving this character will not be a burden for him, stating that “It’s time for me to grow up!”.
The other projects
Harrison Ford wanted to specify that farewell to the character of Indiana Jones does not mean a total withdrawal from the cinematic scene. The actor’s fans will be able to breathe a sigh of relief, because they will be able to see their darling again in other serial and cinematic projects. Ford indeed confessed, in an interview with Chris Wallace, who loves his job so much that he makes it a real passion, which makes him feel useful. The love he feels for the cinema clearly shines through his words, confessing: “I don’t feel obliged to do anything, I let myself be carried away by the things I work on!”
That is why we will soon see him involved in many serial projects, including 1923which will air on Paramount+ and comedy Shrinking, on Apple TV+. These will be joined by cinematographic commitments; the actor is in fact currently busy on the set of Captain America: Brave New World.
