Intel Core i9-13900 Raptor Lake: A preview of the processor

Today we previewed the new Intel Core i9-13900 “Raptor Lake” processor

Intel (here for more information on the company) is preparing to launch his own 13th generation of codenamed desktop processors Raptor Lake. After Alder Lake, the 13th generation design will implement up to eight P-core con 16 E-core produced on Intel’s enhanced 7+ technology node. Today we received a preview of the performance from SiSoftware which collected the SiSoftware Sandra processor database scores Intel Core i9-13900 Raptor Lake-S.

Details of the new Intel Core i9-13900 Raptor Lake

Below we are going to see an overview of the various components of this new processor. First, the The SoC has 36 MB of L3 cache unified against the 30 MB of Alder Lake. With memory DDR5 fino a 5600 MT/s e PCIe 5.0, the SoC offers the latest memory and I / O standards. The big P-cores now lack the AVX-512 and have 2 MB di cache L2 per core. We see 4 MB of L2 cache for a cluster of small E-cores. An interesting addition to the E-cores is the support AVX/AVX2which is a first for Atom cores.

Tests carried out

As for the tests, the author collected a few that seemed appropriate for comparison with the equivalent Alder Lake model. Starting with the tests ALU/FPU comparing basic arithmetic activities, Raptor Lake has provided an improvement since 33% al 50% from Alder Lake. Raptor Lake’s design has achieved this with a frequency P-Core a 3,7 GHz e E-Core a 2,76 GHz.

In vectorized tests and SIMDthe 13th generation design has shown improvement only since 5% all’8% compared to the previous generation. For more benchmarks and accurate results, we have to wait for new tests, which will arrive on the day of release.
