Thanks to a liquid nitrogen dissipation system and the GIGABYTE Z590 AORUS TACHYON motherboard, a Taiwanese overclocker has pushed its Intel i9-11900K up to 7.31 GHz, beating all previous records and securing, for now, the world first.

The motherboard Z590 AORUS TACHYON di GIGABYTE with the latest processor Intel i9-11900K of 11th generation and an LN2 liquid nitrogen cooling system for heat dissipation have set the new overclock world record by bringing the frequency to 7314 MHz, beating the previous Super Pi 1M and Super Pi 32M world records. The quality of the components together with the experience of the Taiwanese overclocker HiCookie have allowed to overcome the technological limits once again.

The Intel i9-11900K is the top of the line for the 11th generation Intel Rocket Lake series. The chip presents 8 core e 16 thread. We will also see in action 16 MB of L3 cache (2 MB per core) and 4 MB of L2 cache (512 KB per core). The CPU will present a maximum boost clock of 5.2 GHz (on a single core), while the Boost frequency on all cores will be maintained at 4.8 GHz. Not bad anyway. The chip also features Thermal Velocity Boost which should provide a 100 MHz jump in the maximum clock rate. This should lead to a 5.3 GHz single-core boost clock when conditions make it possible. However we have fewer cores than the previous generation, this is because Intel Rocket Lake’s Cypress Cove is directly derived from Tiger Laker which offers at most 8 physical cores.

La CPU Intel Core i9-11900K presenta un power limit of the 1st stage of 125 W as we are used to seeing by now, while the power limit of the 2nd stage or PL2 is set at 250 W. This will certainly be due to the very high clock frequencies that the new Intel Rocket Lake CPUs can reach, albeit for a limited period of time.
