Intel will build a chip assembly factory in Italy. The news has not yet been officially confirmed but the agreement would really be one step away. After months of rumors, in fact, the official announcement on the project could arrive by the end of August.
Intel invests in Italy: new chip assembly factory on the way?
As evidenced by a Reuters report, in fact, Intel would be close to announcing the start of work on the construction of a chip “packaging” factory in Italy. The project involves an investment of around 5 billion euros and could lead to the creation of 5 thousand jobs, of which 1,500 directly connected to the factory and the remainder to the related industries.
According to what has emerged in these hours, the site where the new plant will be built will be located in Northern Italy with the regions Piedmont (with the area of Mirafiori) e Veneto which would be the favorites to host the project. In the past, moreover, Intel would have also considered the construction of a plant in Lombardy or in Puglia or again in Sicily.
The news, in any case, is not yet official. It will be necessary to wait for the next few weeks to find out more. Intel is expected to announce the completion of the new chip assembly factory project by the end of August and before the next election.
