iPhone 16, revolutionized design for the basic models, with vertical cameras and new shortcut keys
The official announcement is still several months away, but the hype machine for the new ones iPhone 16 it's already in motion. If in recent months the rumors focused mainly on the Pro models, now it is the turn of the basic models, iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, to reveal some interesting detail.
iPhone 16: the latest leaks
The first covers created by accessory manufacturers, based on CAD drawings leaked online, show a completely revolutionized photographic compartment design for the two smartphones. Goodbye to the square island which housed the sensors in the current iPhone 15: Apple seems intent on returning to a vertical arrangement, more similar to that of iPhone X.
The two sensors, one wide angle and one ultra wide angle, will be housed in a new one pill-shaped formwith the microphone positioned next to the lenses and the flash on the right.
Space videos for everyone
This design choice could be linked to the introduction of the possibility of record space videos even on basic models. Currently, this function is reserved only for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. The vertical arrangement of the sensors would facilitate the shooting of this type of video, which can be reproduced immersively on viewers such as Vision Pro.
iPhone 16: the action button and the capture button arrive
In addition to the new design of the photographic sector, the rumors also speak of the introduction of two new buttons: the action button, already present on the iPhone 15 Pro, and the new capacitive “capture” button. The action buttonlocated on the left side of the device, can be customized to activate different functions, such as silent mode, launching a specific app or activating a shortcut.
The capture button, however, should be positioned on the side, in place of the antenna 5G mmWave present on US models. Its main function will be to activate image acquisition or video recording, with the possibility of zooming by sliding your finger on the button itself.
