According to Samsung’s latest Trend Radar, “Italians e Natalea world of connections”, the Natale remains at the center of the preferences of a large percentage of people Italiansespecially among young people – and many of them will be looking for tech gifts for 2023.
Tech Christmas: Samsung’s analysis of Italian habits
The study, conducted on a sample of over 1,000 people, explored the relationship between Italians with the Natalerevealing habits, use of technology and preferences regarding gifts under the tree. Although some may consider the Natale a consumerist opportunity, 54.8% of survey participants expressed a strong attachment to the party. Added to this is another significant group of people (33.8%) who, despite having a more lukewarm interest, still decide to celebrate this special moment. Only a small amount 11.5% would cancel Christmas completely from the calendar.
The affection for the Natale it is particularly widespread among young people. There Gen Z stands out as the most involved generation (69.5%), followed by Millennials (62.9%), come on Senior (39.3%) whose interest decreases with increasing age.
Christmas traditions
The magic ofChristmas atmosphere (67%), the aesthetics of the lights that illuminate the cities (59.6%), the time spent with the family (54%), and the setting up of home decorations (45.2%) emerge as the main reasons for loving the Natale. Only 29% rate the gift-giving aspect as their favorite part of the holiday.
Culinary traditions, such as preparation of dinner on the eve or lunch of December 25th, generate enthusiasm for 35.2% of those interviewed, while 28.8% prefer to enjoy a holiday during this period.
The greetings are divided into digital and physical: 64.3% opt for greetings via message, while 62.6% prefer to send them in person. Land phone calls still retain their charm, especially among Senior (59.5%), contrary to speech audio which decreases with age.
Tradition and technology at Christmas
57.5% do not give up classic decorations, while 40.2% love watching Christmas films. 20.1% look online for ideas for setting the table and 19.7% look for perfecting the dishes. Preparing meals is a moment of sharing for 31.5% who love following family recipes. The main purchasing channel is online, with 44.2% of Millennials who searches for and buys gifts online. The Black Friday sees 35.2% of the Gen Z take advantage of offers for online purchases.
The technology plays a central role, saving time for Christmas preparations (54.8%) and facilitating contact between people, especially a Natale according to 64.1% of participants. 50% of respondents will give a tech object as a gift, with earphones (34.7%) and smartphones (32.7%) in first place. 2/3 would also like to receive a tech gift, including smartphones (21.2%) and PCs (13.9%).
