Luxurious, electric and now also self-driving? This is what appears from the joint announcement by Jaguar Land Rover and Nvidia that they have signed an agreement which foresees the use of the chip giant’s Drive platform in the cars of the British brand starting in 2025.
Together, the two companies will develop a wide range of functions in the field of active safety, driving support, parking assistance and, above all, autonomous driving.
All of these solutions will be based on NVDIA Drive Hyperion, which includes NVIDIA Drive Orin, Drive AV and Drive IX features and more. NVDIA Drive Orin will be the brain of the vehicle’s artificial intelligence (AI) and Drive Hyperion will be the sensor or central nervous system.
The collaboration between NVIDA and Jaguar Land Rover also includes the creation of ad hoc data centers
NVIDIA and Jaguar Land Rover are also setting up internal data centers that will rely on the solution NVIDIA DGX for building and training artificial intelligence models. They will also use the software Drive Sim on NVIDIA Omniverse for accurate physical simulations in real time.
The software created by Jaguar Land Rover will provide functionality, as well as end-to-end verification and validation that will enable innovation support and continuous autonomous driving capabilities through over-the-air updates.
