Joy – a film by David O. Russell on the extraordinary life of Joy Mangano, inventor of the Miracle Mop – is available from today 27 August on Disney + in the Star section. In the cast Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro
Disney’s project to expand the catalog of its streaming platform with non-original content continues.
One of the hottest titles of August – Joy – arrives at the very end of the month – the 27 – simultaneously with two original titles that could obscure the arrival of this film, the viewing at no additional cost of the live action Cruella and the comedy Friends of the holidays.
But the film by the prolific filmmaker David O. Russell, which will complete the increasingly rich catalog of the section Star, can count on many elements to capture the attention of the public and to carve out the right space on the platform.
Joy – The true story of Joy Mangano
The story of Joy Mangano, inventor of the Miracle Mop, the magical broom to clean floors, seems to be written to become a biopic. A strong and tenacious woman, she became one of the greatest female entrepreneurs in America by relying only on her strength.
Since she was a teenager, the girl takes care of the family and her parents. She married very young, had three children and divorced only thirty years old, in a period – the 1980s – when a single mother was certainly not well regarded. Her life changes radically when she has an enlightenment: as a housewife she invents the Miracle Mop, a rotating and machine washable broom.
To date Joy is one of the most important entrepreneurs and self-made women in America. At sixty-three lead a billion dollar empire, who gave jobs to her children and also to her ex-husband.
The strength of the film is certainly the cast, composed of Jennifer Lawrence – winner of her third Golden Globe for this role -, Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro, Isabella Rossellini, Edgar ramirez e Virginia Madsen.
The biopic, like many other products added on Disney+ in August, in Italy it is not available on any other platform. The arrival on Star August 27 therefore becomes the unmissable opportunity to recover the film, released six years ago in 2015.
From today, therefore, the extraordinary life of Joy and her complicated family is ready to conquer you too, from the comfort of your sofa at home.
