4 years after the first chapter of Jurassic World Evolition, Frontier Developments continues to focus on the giants of the past with a new management software dedicated to dinosaurs. Jurassic World Evolution 2 is, pass the term, the evolution of the previous management software that allows us to create our own Jurassic park with lots of new elements and more dinosaurs. The park manager’s job isn’t easy, especially when creatures on public display can destroy their enclosures at any moment and cause a real massacre… isn’t that exciting? So let’s find out all the news of Jurassic World Evolution 2 in this review.
Our Jurassic World Evolution 2 review
Jurassic World Evolution 2 temporally places itself at the end of the events of the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom movie. This is where the game’s campaign will begin. Our role will be to lead operations to control, conserve and contain dinosaurs in the wild throughout the United States. To do this we will be joined by movie characters such as Doctor. Ian Malcom and Claire Dearing. The campaign differs a lot from the management that we have known in the first chapter. Goodbye small confined islands, now we have the boundless territories of America at our disposal.
The gameplay variations are very interesting albeit limited. We will no longer have to create dinosaurs in the laboratory but recover those scattered around the world. We will therefore have to carry out important recovery maneuvers to place the dinosaurs in the most suitable enclosures. In fact, a new system will indicate what the dinosaur needs and how we can do to make it as happy as possible. It goes without saying that the situation gets complicated with the larger and more ferocious dinosaurs that need an extra dose of attention. During the campaign we will find ourselves several times personally managing the dinosaur collection operations, using the mythical rangers to sleep and analyze them or taking control of the helicopter for longer journeys.
Unfortunately, the campaign lasts very little, about 2 hours of gameplay and is certainly not the most intriguing mode of Jurassic World Evolution 2. But fear not, because our role as managers of Jurassic parks has just begun.
New dinosaurs and ways to play
The Jurassic World Evolution 2 campaign can in fact be seen as a sort of very broad tutorial that introduces all the news of this second chapter. These can be explored in The Chaos Theory mode. It is a much broader and more interesting mode than the main campaign that looks like a real “What If” of all the films in the Jurassic Park saga. The question that is asked is “what would have happened at Jurassic Park if you had managed?”. The in-game missions take us back to the mythical scenery islands of the first films of the saga and retrace history as we know it but with a little extra: us. In fact, we will be following the Jurassic Park from the beginning since Dr. Hammond and Henry Wu began to develop the first dinosaur embryos from that famous mosquito.
Therefore, some mechanics already seen in the first chapter such as expeditions in search of artifacts, the acquisition of the genome around the world, incubation and genetic modifications return. However, everything has been revisited, developed and in one word, improved. The game, in general, was cleaned of all those defects that made the first chapter a bit woody and immature. The gameplay mechanics, even if they do not introduce anything revolutionary, are much more intuitive and flow in a more linear way.
The management of the park and the interests of the public now goes hand in hand with the creation of the enclosures for the dinosaurs and we will have to develop both themes in the best way if we are to achieve our goals. The improvements are also joined by two new gameplay mechanics never seen before, introduced by two equally new types of dinosaurs: flying dinosaurs and aquatic ones.
Both bring aviaries and lagoons into the game and their respective mechanics reserved for these new types of enclosures that represent the most interesting novelty of the game.

Nostalgia effect hit in full
Without a doubt, the What If mode will be, for the longest-lived fans of the franchise, a long journey into the past. Retracing the adventures and misadventures of the 5 films it will be impossible not to notice and appreciate the excellent work done by the developers, such as the desire to bring the historical characters of the saga back into play or some iconic elements such as the fantastic Jeeps on rails from the first Jurassic Park. As you progress with the missions and with the films, the challenges will be increasingly difficult and even if we can boast of knowing the history of films by heart, we must not underestimate, as the essay Ian Malcom told us, the unpredictability!
The Jurassic World Evolution 2 review in a nutshell
Jurassic World Evolution 2 is a more complete, richer, more refined game than the first chapter. All the limitations and hitches we found in Jurassic World Evolution disappear, leaving room for classic but still effective gameplay. A graphic style and a graphic rendering of the dinosaurs thinks even more impressive than in the past for a total immersion in the Jurassic world.
Another great title from Frontier Developments just waiting to be discovered.
