Lovers of the video game series will be able to rejoice (and also be a little afraid) upon hearing the news of the arrival of a Kingdom Hearts film. Attention, this is news to be taken with a pinch of salt, as it is a rumor!
It is not the first time that there has been talk of wanting to make a film or television adaptation of Kingdom Hearts. This series has made millions of players fall in love over the years, with the last chapter of the saga released 4 years ago now, in 2020, and concluded with the ReMind DLC. Even though we've been talking about Kingdom Hearts 4 for a while, it seems like the story will be re-released in cinema format. Some time ago there was talk of creating a television series that would be published directly on the Disney+ platform. Now, however, the plans seem to have changed, with the intention of creating a cartoon movie based on the video game saga created by Square Enix. The reason why they made this decision could be due to the success that the latest film adaptations based on other video games have had.
The Kingdom Hearts animated film: what we know
At the moment nothing is confirmed yet, but this rumor comes from one reliable source, or TheDisInsider. The new direction that the Kingdom Hearts adaptation has taken would travel the same wave as Super Mario Bros. The Movie, which achieved enormous success. Of course it is not the first time that Disney has tried to create a film adaptation based on a video game, years ago it had already tried with Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time with protagonist Jake Gyllenhaal. It certainly didn't achieve the desired success, but several years have passed since then and perhaps Disney may have learned its lesson. However, it is not even the first time that they have created an adaptation of the video game with Sora, in fact they had already created a pilot episode of an animated series sent to Disney Channel, but which unfortunately never saw the light.
