It will be up to Ursula Meier and her La ligne – La linea invisibile to inaugurate the highly anticipated twenty-second edition of art house cinema meetings in Mantua. The film will be screened as the opening film of the FICE event on Mondayì 3 October at 21:00. The Franco-Swiss director will be among the guests of the evening that takes place in Sala Manto, together with the pianist Elena Soresi, who will have the task of introducing the screening of the film with a musical performance
La ligne – The invisible line: all the details
The film is therefore directed by Ursula Meier and sees the participation of Stephanie Blanchoud and Valeria Bruni Tedeschi. The film, presented in competition at the 72nd edition of the Berlin Film Festival, tells the story of Christina (Valeria Bruni Tedeschi), a pianist who decides to leave her career to devote herself to the growth of her three daughters. The woman has a complex and conflicting relationship with her eldest daughter, Margaret, a very talented but emotionally unstable girl who is forced to respect a distance of 100 meters from the family home imposed on her by the judge for her aggressive behavior.
Margaret she finds herself isolated and far from home and the line that divides her from the family becomes the object of the girl’s desire, who thus begins to miss the family unit and goes to that line that in order to be as close as possible to her affections. Gradually Margaret will understand the extent of her true feelings about her and the extent of what she has lost.
La ligne – The invisible line will arrive in Italian cinemas starting from January 2023ready to tell his story of love and violence, fragility and strength, with music as the great protagonist of the narrative.
