Last weekend, someone hacked into the systems of Rockstar Games. In a matter of hours, over 90 video from Grand Theft Auto 6 have been posted on the web. Police in London, UK, have now revealed that they have arrested the 17-year-old responsible for the cyber attack.
The BBC e l’account Twitter London police confirmed that the arrest took place today in theOxfordshire. The official statement says only that the 17-year-old was arrested “on suspicion of hacking, as part of an investigation supported by the UK’s NCA National Cybercrime Unit.” However the reporter Matthew Keys reports that this is the person who leaked Grand Theft Auto 6 after hacking Rockstar Games (and possibly Uber too).
In other tweets, Keys also states that the arrest was carried out in collaboration with theFBI, which was already investigating the cyber attack. They are expected in the next few hours more detailed statements by the agencies involved. At the moment the hacker remains under police custody and his identity is obviously unknown.
The leak about GTA 6 is, along with the acquisition of Activision Blizzard from Microsoft, one of the biggest stories in the gaming industry of 2022.
