Lena Dixen, Senior Vice President of Products and Marketing for the LEGO Group, said:
Our designers love challenges, so you can imagine their joy when we asked them to think a little bigger than usual with this model. They enthusiastically welcomed the opportunity to collaborate with our amazing designers and engineers from the production workshop at the Kladno factory in the Czech Republic, who build these impressive life-size models, and have truly pushed the boundaries of what can be done with LEGO Technic. The creativity that the system allows has made it possible to truly do justice to the exceptional design of the Lamborghini Sián FKP 37.
A pioneering design
Marking the second collaboration between the talented designers, engineers and technicians of the two companies, the model reflects the dimensions of the Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 to the millimeter. The perfectly proportioned frame is covered with an intricate fabric of Custom-made LEGO Technic hexagonal elements, which interconnect to form an energy-laden shell. The design pays homage to six-sided shape that plays a fundamental role in Lamborghini’s design language, echoing the iconic hexagonal taillights and exhaust shape of the Italian super sports car.
Externally, the design of the Lamborghini Sián has been replicated down to the smallest detail. The word Sían means “flash” or “lightning bolt” in the Bolognese dialect, and to emphasize this aspect, the LEGO Group experts have made sure that the lights and the elegant lightning flashing along the body reflect how the real model epsilon headlights, and that the rear hex lights can turn on and off.
Inside the cabin, the details are incredible, with a flying brick decorated with the famous lamborghini emblem and the Italian flag, i dashboard controls built by LEGO e i racing seats. This is the first large-scale model from the LEGO group to have a paint effect UV color coating applied to ensure the model will last a lifetime. The color, which perfectly matches that used for the 1: 8 scale LEGO Technic model, has been applied by Lamborghini’s official paint shop to ensure a finish worthy of the super sports car.
The result is a flawless model that could be mistaken for the true sports car, proudly created by a team of 15 people during 8,660 hours of development and accurate construction.
