LG DualUp, the new monitor with a 16:18 ratio

LG presented a new monitor to say the least original, dedicated to those who do not appreciate traditional aspect ratios such as 16: 9, 16:10 or 21: 9. The company announced what it advertises as a “completely new format in the monitor market” called DualUp.

With a unique aspect ratio 16:18, LG says DualUp offers “the same screen space as two 21.5-inch displays and has a vertically split display function that allows users to see more at a glance.”

With a resolution of 2560×2880 it’s a 27.6-inch diagonal, the DualUp (model 28MQ780) reaches i 300 nits of brightness and covers 98% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. As The Verge reports, the company hasn’t just presented the DualUp. He also announced the monitor UltraFine 4K to 32 ”, a more ordinary product than the DualUp, with a 16: 9 aspect ratio, and with the “first Nano IPS Black panel” according to LG, which can emit “realistic and nuanced black tones”. The latter monitor has one maximum brightness of 400 nits and a contrast ratio of 2000: 1 compared to the 1000: 1 of the DualUp. LG also includes an auto-calibration sensor to make sure you see accurate color tones in video or photo editing.

Both of LG’s new monitors include two HDMI ports, a USB-C port upstream e due porte USB-C downstream, but unfortunately they are not Thunderbolt ports. They can charge external devices such as laptops up to 96 watts via USB power supply.
