Apple introduces the all-new 13-inch MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, supercharged by the new M2 chip
Apple presented the new ones today MacBook Air e MacBook Pro. The first completely redesigned, the second a completely updated 13-inch. M2 also arrives on the 13-inch MacBook Pro, with incredible performance, acceleration ProRes, up to 24 GB of memory and up to 20 hours of battery life, making our pro more portable.
Chip M2
M2 launches the second generation of Apple’s M-series chips and extends M1’s amazing capabilities. With industry-leading energy efficiency, a unified memory architecture and customized technologies, this new chip brings even greater performance and capacity to Mac notebooks. New generation 8 core CPU with improvements in both performance and core efficiency. Plus a next-generation GPU from Apple, which now has up to 10 core, two more than the M1. M2 offers 100 GB / s of bandwidth of unified memory and supports up to 24GB of fast unified memory, so it can easily handle even larger and more complex workloads. Designed to dramatically speed up video workflows, the M2 also adds a next-generation multimedia engine. It also has a powerful video motor ProRes for hardware accelerated encoding and decoding, so systems with M2 will be able to play multiple streams of video 4K and 8K than before.

New 13.6-inch liquid retina display
The new MacBook Air comes with a gorgeous 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display, which has been expanded closer to the sides and up around the camera to make room for the menu bar. The result is a larger display with much thinner edges, which gives users more screen space to view their content in brilliant detail. At 500 nits of brightness, it is also 25% brighter than before. Plus, the new display now supports 1 billion colors, so photos and movies look incredibly vibrant.
New camera and four speaker sound system
MacBook Air includes a new camera FaceTime HD 1080p with a larger image sensor and more efficient pixels. These offer twice the resolution and low-light performance of the previous generation. Combined with the processing power of the advanced image signal processor on the M2, users will look good during video calls.
MacBook Air also features a four speaker sound system. To accommodate such a slim design, the speakers and microphones are fully integrated between the keyboard and display. A three-microphone array captures clean audio using advanced beamforming, while the speakers produce better stereo separation and vocal clarity. MacBook Air also supportsimmersive spatial audio for music and movies with Dolby Atmos.
World-class performance with Macbook Air and MacBook Pro
For work-intensive like editing complex timelines in Final Cut Pro, the performance is close to the 40% faster compared to the previous generation and up to 15 times faster for customers who have not upgraded to Apple silicon. Applying filters and effects in apps like Adobe Photoshop is up to 20% faster than before and up to 5x faster for customers who haven’t yet upgraded to Apple silicon. And even with a larger display and improved performance, MacBook Air offers the same exceptional all-day battery life as before, with up to 18 hours of video playback.
Users love the performance that the 13-inch MacBook Pro offers in its compact design. Now with the M2, it delivers even more functionality in the same large form factor. With a faster 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU, working with RAW images in apps like Affinity Photo it’s almost the 40 percent faster compared to the previous generation. Even up to 3.4x faster for users upgrading from an Apple silicon-free model.
Components that make the difference
With an active cooling system, the 13-inch MacBook Pro is designed to sustain its professional performance. Thanks to the M2, the 13-inch MacBook Pro also supports up to 24 GB of unified memoryin addition to 50% more bandwidth of memory. This makes multitasking and working with large assets super smooth. With support for ProRes encoding and decoding in the M2 media engine, users can play up to 11 streams of 4K video and up to two streams of 8K ProRes video. And they can convert their video projects to ProRes almost 3x faster than before.
MacOS Monterey
The 13-inch MacBook Pro offers phenomenal battery life with up to 20 hours of video playback. With macOS Monterey e Apple silicon, MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro provide users with even greater performance and productivity. Continuity tools such as Universal Control allow users to effortlessly work on Mac and iPad while AirPlay on Mac allows users to play anything from their iPhone or iPad directly to their Mac’s stunning Retina display.
Also macOS Ventura, arriving this fall, will take full advantage of M2. It will offer new features including Stage Manager and powerful new features with Continuity Camera e Handoff coming to FaceTime. MacOS Ventura also includes great updates for Safari, Mail, Messages, Spotlight, and more.
The best for the environment
Both the new MacBook Air and the 13-inch MacBook Pro minimize their impact on the environment by now using the 100% recycled rare earths in the magnets of the casing. MacBook Air uses the 100% recycled aluminum in its case and is the first Apple product to use certified recycled steel. Both products meet Apple’s high energy efficiency standards, are free of numerous harmful substances and use wood fibers in packaging from responsibly managed forests.
Today, Apple is a zero emissions of carbon for global business operations. By 2030, it expects to have a climate impact pari a zero throughout the business, including production supply chains and all product life cycles. This means that every Mac created by Apple, from design to production, it will be 100% carbon neutral.
Price and availability
The all-new MacBook Air and updated 13-inch MacBook Pro will be available on the applestore and in the Apple Store app. They will begin arriving at customers and will be in select Apple Store locations and Apple Authorized Resellers next month. MacBook Air with M2 starts from 1.199 dollars. The 13-inch MacBook Pro with M2 starts at 1.299 dollars.
