Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was the best-selling video game in the UK on Black Friday, probably also thanks to the numerous sales that registered the console Nintendo Switch. The most beloved plumber’s racing game of all time has ousted FIFA 22 and even the remakes of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, released a few weeks ago. Let’s take a look at some statistics.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: sales boom during Black Friday in the UK
Black Friday did not fail to make its mark in the UK, and this time it was Nintendo Switch games that dominated the sales charts. The titles associated with the Nintendo hybrid recorded sales of two million copies, but the absolute protagonist of all was Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, also thanks to the bundle available with the console.
The previous sales champion, Pokémon Shining Diamond dropped to sixth place, with 57% fewer sales than last week. Even more unfortunate is his twin, Shining Pearl, which collapsed from second position to eleventh. However, if you consider them as one game and not two separate products, then they should sit third in the standings, a pretty good result, a sign that interest in Generation IV remakes is still high.
According to GamesIndustry reports, the sales recorded during the entire duration of Black Friday were slightly lower than the standard, even if we are obviously talking only about the retail market, and the impossibility of having data about digital copies available prevents us from having a complete picture of the situation.
Anyway, immediately after Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, we find FIFA 22 in second place e Minecraft per Nintendo Switch to the third, the latter probably purchased together with the Nintendo console.
