Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Track and Track Guide (Part 6, Banana Trophy)

Don’t let the monkey go – the Banana Trophy is home to more great tracks for our today’s guide to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tracks

There is actually a little monkey, but only at the end of the traced that we will see in ours guide today: the piste from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe they arrived at Banana Trophy. The retro counterpart of the Flower Trophy actually speeds up the difficulty a bit more with this game. We will discover together why among the dunes of GCN Desertico Deserto, the stagnant water of SNES Pianura Ciambella 3, the splendor of N64 Pista Reale and the “ignorant” jungle of 3DS Giungla DK. But before beating your fists on the chest, be patient: you will have to overcome the first three races unscathed! Are you ready to go?

GCN Desert Desert

The desert tracks are always tough, but many tracks from the GameCube episode stand out for an intriguing level design and this Mario Kart 8 Deluxe circuit allows us to speak well of the sand, for the first time in all driving. We are talking about GCN Desert Desertits quicksand and the inevitable Marghibruchi.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Track and Track Guide (Part 6, Banana Trophy)

  • Layout: After the first straight, the initial curves will see you slalom between the Marghibruchi. However, nothing prevents you (if you have mushrooms) from cutting them: the obelisks that collapse on the sand are just for this. The large opening hosts quicksand, but even if you are unable (perhaps thanks to an enemy attack) to circumnavigate them, do not worry; Lakitu will be quick to get you back on track. The last straight before the final corners is now an underwater area: take advantage of the updrafts to give yourself the boost with some acrobatics. For those of you who still have some mushrooms, the last two curves allow for scandalous cuts.
  • Assessment: A polished classic that has a couple of things (or three) to teach the newcomer. Yes, every occasion is good to speak ill of the Tartosso Desert. 8/10.

SNES Donut Plain 3 – Mario Kart 8 Deluxe track and track guide

The second of the tracks that we will see in today’s guide is also among the few tracks taken from the first chapter, but for what is the competition of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, this circuit still knows how to defend itself well. The question is, are you ready for the (few) pitfalls of SNES Plain Donut 3?

  • Layout: Already at the first corner there are several object cubes waiting for you, if you want to make the right arsenal to send your opponents off the track. Between the next two hairpin bends you will find as many piers, from which it is possible to fall without incurring penalties (separate diving guide). The last curves are the territory of the Tantatalpe: be careful and, if you have a mushroom, use it to cut the penultimate one!
  • Assessment: The various Donut Plains do not shine for their originality, but this one is saved by the good restyling it has received. 7/10.

N64 Royal Track – Mario Kart 8 Deluxe track and track guide

We would say that “you are on Scherzi a Karte”, if only the Italian YouTube channel SilvioGunner had not stolen the joke from under our noses. Musical similarities with the initials of the historical Italian program apart, N64 Pista Reale is a track dedicated (rightly) to Peach’s Castle, a very recent location in the year of Mario Kart 64’s release. Let’s rediscover it together.

  • Layout: There is nothing particular to report, outside of a ramp on the dirt road before the large causeway. The latter will lead you to the glide that precedes the last corners, fortunately more forgiving in case you end up off the road.
  • Evaluation: In its simplicity, this track was the inspiration behind the aesthetics of Parco Coco, one of the circuits of Crash Team Racing. It must mean something, right? 7.5 / 10.

3DS Console DK

In Donkey Kong’s voice: “Okay!” The tour of the slopes ends with 3DS Console DK, created from scratch by Retro Studios. As such, the track is a long love letter to fans who got to adore Donkey Kong Country Returns.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Track and Track Guide (Part 6, Banana Trophy)

  • Layout: Make sure you know how to handle the inertia after the first few turns, if you don’t want the combo of tree roots and trampoline flowers to make you fall down the ravine. The curve around Donkey Kong’s Hut is teeming with Tiki tambourines, but after the slalom between them you may worry about the next problem. After a straight and a curve, in fact, at the next you will notice a stone ramp: reaching it with a turbo is advisable, but certainly not essential. The resulting glide will save you from having to deal with opponents, but be careful where you land. Shortly after, in fact, three different ramps in the void await you, for which it is good to have the right inertia. The last sloping curves precede a long glide, with which you will reach the final crossroads: the longest road is also the safest, but you see.
  • Assessment: The mining tracks of the series might have lent themselves better to an adaptation of this type, but Retro Studios wanted to try to fit the entire imagery of one of its most successful titles into it. The result is a track not necessarily to be loved, but certainly one to admire. 8.5 / 10.
