We learned more concepts in the case of Mario Strikers Battle League Football than Nintendo Switch Sports inculcated in the case of its preview. Compared to other Big N titles, the learning curve of the Mariesque football is not afraid to raise without too many ceremonies. We talked about the “swim or sink” tutorials, but the “real” game shows severe punishments (with or without kicks) for those who allow themselves even the slightest moment of distraction. The action is really al heart-poundingand mastering the passing (both of the ball and of the character) soon proves essential.

Although this is football according to Wario in terms of unfairness, the experience as a whole is characterized by theequilibrium as the good old Aldo Biscardi would have liked. Each action, from rugby-style tackles to loaded shots, features different maneuvers with which, ideally, you can witness an endless tango of swerves and dodges. Ideally, of course. Our last test game, thanks to two teams whose elements were fought over by four players, offered instead the utter “ignorant” chaos that fans of the series have come to love over the years. Or that, in the case of a neophyte like myself, they fell in love with it in five minutes.

Progress in the game is tangible through the coinswith which we will be able to release the due equipment for the roster of characters at our disposal. Local games, beyond the aforementioned possible removal of the imaginative elements, require not a little customization. Once you have chosen your characters, you can give them the various components of the armor. These range from helmets to armor, and each element boasts a bonus to statistics (with a penalty to offset it). In other words, a heavyweight like Bowser can become more agile in the right clothes.

This is not the only element of personalization present, however. The level design, although it does not boast repercussions on the gameplay, it is based on the dualism of two different elements. We have two different selections for each half of the pitch, aimed at creating a stadium whose halves always collide with each other. In their selection screen, i characters (Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Toad, Wario, Donkey Kong, Bowser, Waluigi and Rosalinda) wear their most classic colors, but once they have decided which half of the pitch to play on, the teams will have to choose a single color to avoid make (further) confusion.

And let’s talk about the last few possibilities with good reason: from 6 June onwards, First Kick it will no longer be re-downloadable.
