According to the rumors, it seems that Marvel and Sony are at odds regarding the plot of Spider-Man 4, the sequel chapter on the adventures of Spider-Man played by Tom Holland
Rumor has it that Marvel and Sony are at odds over the direction to take the next chapter dedicated to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Indeed, it seems that Vincent D’Onofrio, the actor who plays Kingpin in the MCU has been signed by Marvel and Sony regarding Spider-Man 4, and this would be an idea that has excited several fans. However, it seems that Sony intends to bring back Andrew Garfield and Tobey McGuire once again for the film, but it must be considered that both Holland and Marvel president Kevin Feige would like the next film to be more realistic. Fan preferences, reported on X, also indicate the desire for a Spider-Man more grounded in reality, possibly with the involvement of Daredevil. This ever-growing debate was also fueled by previous rumors that the sequel would have a gang war plot involving all the Marvel heroes fighting against Kingpin.
In the disagreement between Marvel and Sony, Sony could win
We must take that into account again Marvel Studios hasn’t formally announced the next Spider-Man movie, so anything is still possible. Spider-Man No Way Home was successful, but Marvel films of the last year have not received the desired response from the public. The Marvels even scored the worst box office result since the existence of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So we understand that Kevin Feige is very cautious when approving a project. And it seems that he has a precise idea, supported by the interpreter of Spider-Man himself, Tom Holland, that is make the next Spider-Man film more realistic and independent from the MCU, with the introduction of a strong villain like Kingpin. However it should be remembered that all Spider-Man films are produced and distributed by Sony. The film company, however, would have a different idea. In fact, given the explosion of multiverses in his animated Spider-Man, he would like to continue playing that card. Indeed he would also like to recall Tobey McGuire and Andrew Garfield to reform the trio already seen in No Way Home. For now, however, we just have to wait and see what turn the agreement will take.
