The future of the Avengers
The update from a graphic point of view it will be free for all owners of a copy of the old gen title, i.e. PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. As officially detailed, those in possession of a digital copy will be able to get the update without problems, those who had a disc version of the game and want to receive the improvements will necessarily have a next gen console with the player. For the rest of the changes they are not just about the aesthetic aspect, those who are in fact a “longtime” player will find some changes in the gameplay department. So let’s go and talk in this article about what we expect from the next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X | S version of Marvel’s Avengers.
How it runs on Xbox Series X | S – Marvel’s Avengers: what we expect from next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X | S
Let’s start with the juiciest part for those who have managed to get a next-generation console. For the latter the improvements are numerous, but also quite different by platform you are playing on. The Japanese publisher has indeed published recently two tables very different that show all the improvements for Xbox and PlayStation users.
Xbox Series X and S users so far, so without updates, have been able to enjoy faster load times and more stable framerate. With the native update coming to Series X | S, the following features will be introduced: much faster uploads, better destructiveness, screen-space reflections, better sharpening, high quality reflections, better ambient occlusion and finally a greater anisotropic filter. Going instead specifically, Series X will benefit from better textures and native 4K, Series S instead will run in 1440p. However, the framerate has not been specified for both. As you will notice by reading further, there are some substantial differences with the PlayStation 5 version of the game, let’s find out right away.
How it works on PS5 – Marvel’s Avengers: what we expect from the next-gen version PS5 and Xbox Series X | S
PlayStation 5 users will receive some additional enhancements unlike the next-gen version of Marvel’s Avengers on Xbox Series X | S. From March 18th, Sony users will be able to enjoy these improvements: more detailed textures, much faster uploads, better destructiveness, screen-space reflections, better sharpening, high quality reflections, better ambient occlusion, greater anisotropic filtering, spatial audio e haptic feedback through the Dual Sense controller. To make the differences with Xbox even more evident, there are well 2 distinct modes where you can decide to play.
In mode Performance the game will run at 60 frames with 4K upscale. If, on the other hand, you are more likely to want to play with native 4K, your choice will fall on the 4K mode, however, 60 fps does not seem guaranteed (most likely it will drop to 30).
Next-gen gameplay – Marvel’s Avengers: what we expect from the next-gen version PS5 and Xbox Series X | S
This change has been talked about a lot in recent weeks, it is an extremely element critical for the enjoyment for the game. The Crystal Dynamics developers have in fact decided to increase the effort necessary to get to the highest level of the game. Previously, the system required the player to take on missions and take down enemies to gain experience, which is useful for leveling up. The quantity was always the same from the first to the fiftieth and last level. This was a serious problem for the developers, which affected the correct learning of all the mechanics. For the developers, the player found himself with too many skills and powers obtained quickly, thus creating a sort of confusion.
Their solution will be that of gradually increase the amount of experience needed to go from level 25 to level 50. This is certainly a controversial change. For players who are already at 50 there will be no changes, but those who have yet to reach that peak and want to do it quickly, may have to think about doing it before March 18th.
Cosmetic items no longer random – Marvel’s Avengers: what we expect from the next-gen version PS5 and Xbox Series X | S
The developers, always in view of the next update, have decided to disable the random drop of many cosmetic items (if not all). Their goal is to entrust the obtaining of these items to a series of specific actions that the player will have to face. The particular way has not yet been disclosed but, according to the developers, it is a step that should reward the player more. Others, on the other hand, will end up directly in the new cosmetic store, which will be renovated in view of March 18th.
This is a change that we still know little about, especially in regards to the impact it will have on gameplay. Will it be necessary to grind the most? Not necessarily, but it is always better to stay informed.
