The production of Scream 7 has made the decision to fire Melissa Barrera due to her positions regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict
Spyglass Media Group, the production company that deals with the now Scream franchise, has decided to fire one of the protagonists of chapter 7 of the saga. Melissa Barrera is, therefore, officially out of the production of Scream 7. The reasons behind this choice concern the positions taken by the actress in relation to the conflict that has seen Israel and Palestine as protagonists for over a month. Indeed, Melissa Barrera used social media to give her support to the Palestinian cause. Although a spokesperson later clarified that there was one misreading his posts, as they have been interpreted as anti-Semitic. Melissa Barrera’s posts shared on her social networks regarding the conflict accuse Israel of “genocide and ethnic cleansing”, and of distorting the Holocaust, in order to promote the Israeli arms industry.

Following these publications Spyglass immediately terminated its collaboration with the actress. Barrera had been reconfirmed as the protagonist of Scream 7 after having been at the center of the previous two chapters of the saga. However, the statements released by the production company report:
