Natural gas has suddenly become the most expensive fuel at the distributor. This is the highest price ever, which exceeds two euros per kg, and which risks putting various sectors in crisis.
The price of methane gas skyrockets
The price of methane is upsetting entire sectors, especially those that use gas as fuel. These are values never seen before, with the price that has literally doubled to distributors in the last two days. What was the cheapest fuel for years is now much cheaper. The price of CNG Methane gas has in fact risen to the incredible price of 2€ a kg.
The surge in prices seems to have consequences not only on individuals, but also on many sectors. Such as some industries and some car manufacturers, who use it on a permanent basis. The reasons for this sudden surge are not clear at the moment, but we can assume that, after the weekend, the trade associations will make themselves heard.
The dizzying rise from Tuesday
The increase appears to have started in the middle of the week. On Tuesday the price was 1.09 € per kg, slightly above average but nothing alarming. Only 24 hours later, Wednesday, the price is gone up a 1,37, but no one could imagine what would happen next. In fact, the real sting came yesterday with the price of methane which has exceeded 2 € and that today settles on 2,119€ per kg. This is the highest price ever recorded.
that’s how Marino Milighetti, president of Figisc Confcommercio, commented on the news:
“Such an important surge is difficult to explain, in essence it seems that companies want to ‘margin’ more in this area. This means that in some areas there is more competition than in others, depending for example on the presence of more or less independent distributors. Where competition is lower, as in Arezzo, the price rises to recover what was lost elsewhere “
It also intervened to adduce speculative reasons, not without malice Federconsumatori:
“We reported everything to the authorities in charge of control: Finance, Prefecture, the Ministry of Economic Development to avoid any speculative phenomena. In our opinion, increases of this kind are not justifiable with the increase in the cost of raw materials due to the ecological transition and we would not, however, want speculative activities to hide behind these abnormal increases “
