It’s official, Disney has confirmed that the animated film will have a sequel, let’s see what we know so far about Moana 2
After the last venture completed by Wish, Disney takes up the story of 2016 Oceania to give it a sequel. On February 7, 2024, ahead of the Disney shareholders’ meeting, Bob Iger announced that the popular 2016 animated film, Moana will have a sequel. Rumors of a sequel to Oceania had already been circulating for a few months, but there was still no official news. But now we can clear up all doubts: not only will Moana have its own live action, but a new story will also be given to fans. The initial project included a TV series about Vaiana and her friends, but apparently the tables have turned.
Moana 2, plot, trailer and release date
To date there is still no news on the plot of the new film. I know just know that the protagonist, Vaiana, will embark on a new journey together with the demigod Maui and they will be accompanied by a crew of unlikely navigators. Moana will receive an unexpected calling from her ancestors to journey to the far seas of Oceania and into the dangerous, long-lost waters to face an adventure unlike anything she has ever faced. Probably we will see Oceania 2 in autumn 2024 for November 27th (in Italy it is expected the following day, November 28). From an image shared by Disney it can be seen that the animated film will be directed by Dave Derrick Jr., with music by Abigail Barlow, Emily Bear, Opetaia Foa’i and Mark Mancina. Of course it is still early to have a trailerbut on the day of the announcement a video lasting a few seconds was released.
